  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg

Combine water and sugar in a saucepan and heat them together until the sugar has fully incorporated into the liquid. Add lemon slices, whole cloves, and a cinnamon stick to the mixture; then bring the entire concoction to a rolling boil and continue cooking until all the flavors have melded together, approximately 10 minutes.

Strain the liquid and return it to the saucepan; discard the lemon slices, whole cloves, and cinnamon stick.

Mix wine into the water mixture; warm it gently until it reaches a comfortable temperature, ranging from 5 to 10 minutes.
