Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 red chile pepper, seeded and sliced
- 1 (14 ounce) can chickpeas, drained
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 1 cup roughly chopped kale, or more to taste

Preheat a large skillet or wok over an elevated heat setting, approximately medium-high. Introduce oil into the cooking vessel and bring it to a high temperature. Then, add an onion and chile pepper into the pan; cook until the onion becomes soft and palatable, usually within a 5 to 7 minute timeframe. Next, incorporate chickpeas, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and salt into the mixture; continue to cook for a further 5 minutes. After that, pour in a small amount of water and add some lemon zest along with its juice; season the dish to suit your taste preferences if needed.

Combine kale into the mixture until it becomes just tender and slightly reduced, typically within a 3 to 5 minute period. Remove the dish from heat and present it for consumption
