Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3/4 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently, 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Prepare a baking sheet by applying a thin layer of grease to it.
3
In a large mixing container, merge the sugar, eggs, oil, and molasses to create a harmonious blend.
4
In another container, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, ground ginger, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground nutmeg.
5
Blend the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture until a cohesive dough forms.
6
Divide the dough evenly in two; shape each portion into a cylindrical roll, approximately the same length as your prepared baking sheet.
7
Arrange the dough rolls on the prepared baking sheet and gently press them down to achieve an even thickness of 1/2 inch.
8
Place the dough rolls in a preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
9
Once removed from the oven, allow the biscotti to cool until it reaches a comfortable temperature.
10
When the biscotti has cooled sufficiently, use a sharp knife to cut it into 1/2-inch thick diagonal slices.
11
Arrange the sliced biscotti on the prepared baking sheet and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until toasted and crispy on both sides.
