- 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained
- 1/2 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- salt and pepper to taste

Preheat a small pan over medium heat to toast the pine nuts, allowing them to develop a pleasant aroma and slightly darkened color after approximately 5 minutes.

Transfer the toasted pine nuts to a cooler surface to let them relax and cool down.

Next, heat some oil in the same pan over medium heat. Add the sliced red and green bell peppers, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the pan. Stir constantly until they become tender and soft, taking around 10 minutes to achieve this.

Add the diced tomatoes to the pan and continue cooking, stirring occasionally for another 15 minutes.

Combine the cooked tuna with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Add the tuna mixture to the pan with the vegetables and continue simmering for about 15 more minutes.
