- 5 pounds raw peanuts, in shells
- 1 cup salt, or to taste
- water to cover

Rinse and sort peanuts to remove any debris, then place them in a large cooking vessel. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the peanuts to enhance flavor, followed by enough water to completely submerge them.

Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then let it simmer for 3 hours, allowing the peanuts to absorb the flavors and tenderize.

To check on the peanuts' progress, perform a simple texture test. If they are not yet tender to your liking, add additional salt to taste and continue cooking until you achieve the desired level of softness or consistency.
