- 1/2 cup roughly chopped fresh mint leaves
- 8 cups crushed ice, or as needed
- 32 fluid ounces Kentucky bourbon
- 8 sprigs fresh mint for garnish

Prepare the simple syrup in advance of when you intend to present: Combine water, sugar, and chopped mint in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.

Stir occasionally as the sugar dissolves, typically within 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to cool down.

Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to eliminate mint leaves.

Prepare the mint juleps by filling eight glasses with crushed ice; pour 4 ounces of bourbon and 1/4 cup mint syrup into each glass.
