Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 egg white
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar
Instructions
1
First, preheat your oven to a hot temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate and give it a generous coating of cooking spray to prevent the crust from sticking.
3
Then, combine granulated sugar and softened butter in a large mixing bowl until you achieve a smooth consistency.
4
Add the egg yolks to the mixture and continue beating until it becomes light, airy, and fluffy.
5
In a separate bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, and salt until they are well incorporated.
6
Mix in milk and add a hint of vanilla extract to the mixture until everything is well combined.
7
Using an electric mixer, whip egg whites in a separate bowl until they become stiff and hold their shape.
8
Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the batter mixture until they are fully incorporated.
9
Pour the prepared batter into your 9-inch deep-dish pie plate and sprinkle a generous amount of cinnamon sugar on top.
10
Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
11
Then, reduce the oven temperature to a moderate heat of 325 degrees Fahrenheit or 165 degrees Celsius.
12
Continue baking the pie until the center is set, and you can gently jiggle it to check. This should take an additional 25-30 minutes.
13
Finally, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool before serving.
