  • 8 4-ounce MasonĀ® jars with lids and rings
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Insert the sous vide cooker into a large heat-resistant vessel filled with water, making sure it's fully submerged. Heat the water to 179 degrees Fahrenheit (82 degrees Celsius) for a thorough preheating.

Melt sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a deep amber color, taking approximately 5 minutes. Carefully pour the hot sugar mixture into eight 4-ounce Mason jars, covering the bottom of each container.

Combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Fill each jar with the mixture, sealing them tightly.

Submerge the jars into the preheated water bath and set a timer for 1 hour to allow the mixture to cook slowly.

After the cooking time has elapsed, carefully remove the jars from the water bath. Allow the flan to cool down until it's safe to handle, taking around 20 minutes.

Unscrew the lids of the jars and gently scrape the sides with a small rubber spatula to release any residual mixture.

Place a serving plate on top of each flan, invert the jar, and gently shake it to release the flan onto the plate.
