Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 pound pork spareribs
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
- 2 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring, or to taste
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce, or to taste
Instructions
1
Combine salt and sugar in a small bowl, stirring until well-blended. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the ribs to coat them thoroughly.
2
Next, sprinkle a generous amount of red pepper flakes, five-spice powder, and black pepper over the ribs to add depth of flavor.
3
Place the coated ribs into a large, vacuum-seal bag and pour in liquid smoke. Seal the bag tightly to prevent any flavors from escaping.
4
Submerge the sealed bag into a heat-proof container filled with water, and set up your sous vide cooker to cook the ribs at 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for an extended period of 8 hours.
5
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Position the oven rack about 6 inches away from the heat source, and turn on the broiler to create a crispy texture.
6
Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet, and position the ribs in the center.
7
Remove the ribs from the bag, and spread them out evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
8
Brush the ribs with a generous amount of barbeque sauce to add a sweet and tangy flavor.
9
Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 4 to 5 minutes, or until they start to bubble and emit a savory aroma.
10
Flip the ribs over, and continue baking for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, or until the other side bubbles and becomes equally tender.
