Combine water, milk, one-third cup of melted butter, egg, flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in the bread machine's pan according to the manufacturer's instructions or your preferred order. Choose the Dough/Knead and First Rise Cycle; press the start button.

Once the cycle is completed, remove the dough from the machine and place it on a lightly dusted surface. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12-inch circle shape.

Spread one-quarter cup of softened butter evenly over the entire round. Cut each circle into 8 wedges, starting from the wide end. Roll each wedge gently but firmly, applying pressure to form a tight cylinder. Place the wedges point-side down on an ungreased baking sheet. Cover them with a clean kitchen cloth and position the cookie sheet in a warm environment to allow for an additional hour of rising.

In the meantime, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Bake the pastries in the preheated oven until they turn golden brown, taking 10 to 15 minutes.
