  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Combine sugar and butter in a large mixing container using an electric mixer until they form a smooth, creamy consistency. Incorporate eggs and vanilla extract into the mixture, continuing to blend until it is fully smooth.

In a separate container, combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and salt. Sift these dry ingredients together to ensure they are well-blended.

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the sugar and butter mixture, blending until every last bit of flour is fully incorporated.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour, allowing it to chill and firm up.

Divide the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar into a shallow dish. Fill another small container with water.
