Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups warm milk
- 4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 7 cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
1
Start by adding milk to a large mixing bowl, then sprinkle yeast over its surface. Give it time to sit for 5 minutes. Next, incorporate sugar, 1/2 cup of softened butter that's been taken out of the refrigerator, eggs, and salt into the mixture; mix everything together until it's well combined. Gradually add flour to the bowl until a soft, pliable dough forms. Cover the bowl and place it in a warm environment for about an hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
2
After that, punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Cover the bowl again and let it rise once more. Repeat this process two additional times.
3
Now, prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by lightly greasing it with butter. Take the dough and break off 2- to 3-inch-sized pieces; shape them into round balls. Place these dough balls in the prepared baking dish, making sure they're touching each other's edges. Repeat this process to create 36 dough balls in total. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise again until it has doubled in size.
4
Next, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Then, bake the dough balls in the preheated oven until their tops turn golden brown. The baking time should be around 10 to 15 minutes.
5
Finally, remove the baking dish from the oven and drizzle 1/2 cup of melted butter over the top. Serve the warm, golden-brown treats immediately.
