Smoky Scoville Turkey Chili
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 small green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 habanero pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 1 (1 ounce) envelope instant hot chocolate mix
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/2 cup cheap beer
  • 1/2 cup canned whole kernel corn
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
Instructions
1
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, allowing it to warm up and become fluid. Introduce the bell peppers, onion, garlic, and habanero pepper into the pan; cook and stir until the onion becomes transparent, its translucent nature becoming apparent. Move the bell pepper mixture to one side of the pan; then add the ground turkey and cover it. Continue cooking until the turkey loses its pink hue, a process that should take around 5 minutes, with occasional stirring to prevent burning.
2
Add the hot cocoa mix, chili powder, paprika, cumin, red pepper flakes, oregano, black pepper, and seasoned salt to the pan; stir until well combined. Introduce the diced tomatoes with green chiles, kidney beans, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke into the mixture; stir until everything is well incorporated. Add beer to the pan; partially cover it, and then simmer over medium heat for approximately 50 minutes, with occasional stirring to maintain the desired consistency.
3
Add corn and hot pepper sauce into the pan; continue simmering for about 10 minutes more. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool down for a few minutes before serving.
