Ingredients
- 1/2 pound bacon, chopped
- 1/2 large onion, chopped
- 5 leaves collard greens - rinsed, trimmed and chopped
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon greens seasoning, divided
- 1 head cabbage, chopped
- 1 pinch white sugar
Instructions
1
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon along with sliced onions until the bacon reaches a crispy state, approximately 10 minutes.
2
Combine the cooked bacon and onions in the skillet, then add chopped collard greens to the mixture. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper over the greens, along with 1/2 teaspoon of the seasoning specifically designed for collard greens.
3
Continue to cook and stir the mixture for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
4
Next, add in a substantial amount of chopped cabbage leaves to the skillet and continue to cook and stir until they are almost tender, roughly 5 minutes.
5
Subsequently, add the remaining cabbage leaves to the skillet and season with a moderate amount of salt, black pepper, sugar, and the remaining greens seasoning.
6
Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients, then cover the skillet and cook until the greens are tender, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching, approximately 10 minutes.
