Smoky Barbecued Shredded Beef
Ingredients
  • 3 pounds beef roast
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles beer
  • 6 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce
  • 2 cups water
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to a medium-low heat setting of 275 degrees Fahrenheit (or equivalently, 135 degrees Celsius).
2
Position the roast in a spacious roasting dish and sprinkle chopped onions liberally over the top of it.
3
In a large mixing container, blend together Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, salt and pepper until well combined. Introduce beer into the mixture and stir thoroughly before pouring it over the roast in the roasting pan. Add water to the surface of the meat.
4
Cover the roasting pan and cook in a slow oven for 4 to 5 hours, allowing the meat to become tender.
5
Once the meat is cooked through, use two forks to shred it into bite-sized pieces. Add barbecue sauce to the shredded meat and mix until well incorporated.
