Slow Roasted Pork Leg
Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons dried sage
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 (5 pound) pork leg with skin
  • 1 large onion
  • 6 cloves garlic, halved
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to 430 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
2
To prepare the marinade, mix together olive oil, dried sage leaves, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in a small bowl until well combined.
3
Then, take the pork leg and gently rinse it under cold water, followed by patting it dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
4
Next, apply the seasoned olive oil all over the pork leg, making sure to coat it evenly.
5
After that, slice one large onion into thin rings and separate the layers. Place these onion rings on the bottom of a roasting pan, followed by placing garlic halves alongside.
6
Place the pork leg on top of the onion and garlic layers in the roasting pan.
7
Then, roast the pork leg in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. After this initial period, reduce the oven temperature to 355 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) and continue roasting until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the pork leg reads at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit (63 degrees Celsius), approximately an additional hour and 20 minutes.
8
Once the pork leg is cooked, let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it into thin strips for serving.
