Slow Cooker Turkey Meatballs with Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon Italian-style salad dressing
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 1/4 cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Italian-style diced tomatoes
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
Instructions
1
Heat a small pan over medium heat and sauté the onion with Italian dressing for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes until slightly cooled.
2
In a separate bowl, combine the ground turkey, bread crumbs, minced garlic, sautéed onions, dried Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly.
3
In another bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, and dried basil. Set this mixture aside for now.
4
Form half of the turkey mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place them at the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour half of the tomato mixture over the meatballs. Use the remaining turkey mixture to form more meatballs and layer them with the remaining tomato mixture.
5
Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours.
