Slow Cooker Pulled Pork BBQ
Ingredients
  • 1 (5 pound) bone-in pork shoulder roast
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
1
Place a pork shoulder into a slow cooker and sprinkle it with salt and pepper for added flavor.
2
Pour a small amount of vinegar over the pork to help tenderize it, making sure it's fully coated.
3
Cover the slow cooker and cook on a low setting for 12 hours, allowing the pork to become incredibly tender.
4
Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and discard any bones that may have formed during cooking.
5
Strain off the liquid from the slow cooker, reserving 2 cups of it for later use. Discard any excess liquid that may have accumulated.
6
Use two forks or tongs to shred the pork into tender, easy-to-chew strands.
7
Return the shredded pork back into the slow cooker.
8
In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, hot pepper sauce, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes to create a flavorful sauce.
9
Pour the sauce into the reserved liquid and mix it well with the shredded pork in the slow cooker.
10
Cover the slow cooker again and continue to cook on a low setting until serving time, allowing all the flavors to meld together.
