Ingredients
- 4 boneless, center cut pork chops
- 1/3 cup uncooked brown rice
- 2/3 cup uncooked white rice
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup butter
- 8 ounces green peas
- 1 (5 ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 4 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 cup water
- 10 ounces beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
1
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and sear the pork chops on both sides until they are nicely browned.
2
Prepare a slow cooker by lightly misting it with cooking spray, then add the cooked and browned pork chops on top.
3
Combine the uncooked white rice, sliced onion, melted butter, frozen peas, water chestnuts, and sautéed mushrooms in the slow cooker. Pour in water, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce to create a flavorful liquid base.
4
Add the onion soup mix to the slow cooker and season with pepper to taste. Cover the top of the slow cooker, then place the seared pork chops on top.
5
Place the slow cooker in a low-temperature setting and cook for 7 to 9 hours, or switch it to high-temperature setting and cook for 4 to 5 hours.
