Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 pounds beef sirloin, sliced into strips
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 3 green bell peppers, cut into strips
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
1
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat, and then pour in the oil. Next, add the steak strips and sear them on both sides quickly, incorporating minced garlic as they cook. Transfer the steak and its savory juices to a slow cooker. Then, add sliced onions, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sugar on top. Cover the slow cooker, and let it cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours, or until the beef is tender enough to be pierced with a fork.

About an hour before the cooking time runs out, add sliced green peppers to the slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth; then pour the mixture into the slow cooker during the last few minutes of cooking. This will allow the sauce to thicken, creating a rich and flavorful dish.
