Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 large green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
Instructions
1
To prepare the flank steak, place it in a sealed container with cornstarch and give it a thorough mixing to ensure the steak is evenly coated.
2
Allow the steak to sit for 10 minutes, giving it time to absorb the cornstarch.
3
Next, heat a generous amount of olive oil in a large cooking vessel over medium-high heat.
4
Cook the steak, stirring occasionally, until it is uniformly browned on all sides, taking approximately 2 to 4 minutes.
5
Then, combine the onion, garlic, steak, green onions, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger, and hoisin sauce in a slow cooker.
6
Cook the dish on the Low setting for around 4 hours, allowing all the flavors to meld together.
