Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli
Ingredients
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch strips
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 pounds broccoli florets, or to taste
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
1
Melt the beef bouillon cube in warm water by gently stirring it into a bowl until completely dissolved; combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil in the same bowl, stirring until the sugar is fully incorporated.
2
Add sliced beef strips to a slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the top of the meat.
3
Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 4 hours, until the beef is tender enough to be easily pierced with a spoon.
4
Transfer 2 tablespoons of liquid from the slow cooker into a separate bowl and whisk cornstarch into it until smooth.
5
Slowly stir the cornstarch mixture back into the slow cooker, ensuring a consistent color throughout.
6
Cook on High for 30 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and reaches your desired consistency.
7
Prepare a steamer insert by placing it into a saucepan, filling the pan with water to just below the bottom of the steamer insert.
8
Bring the water to a boil and cook broccoli in the covered steamer until tender, typically 2-6 minutes.
9
Add the cooked broccoli to the slow cooker with the sauce and stir gently to coat the vegetables evenly.
10
Serve the beef, broccoli, and sauce over a bed of cooked jasmine rice, garnishing with sesame seeds for added flavor.
