Ingredients
- 1 (5 pound) flat-cut corned beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon browning sauce (such as Kitchen Bouquet®), or as desired
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 6 cloves garlic, sliced
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 275 degrees Fahrenheit or 135 degrees Celsius.
2
Discard any added flavoring from the pre-packaged corned beef, and give the brisket a good coating of browning sauce on both sides.
3
Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a large skillet over the medium-high heat setting, and sear the brisket on both sides until it's nicely browned, taking around 5 to 8 minutes per side.
4
Place the brisket on a metal rack that's been positioned in a roasting pan, and sprinkle some sliced onions and garlic over the top of it. Add enough water to the roasting pan to cover the bottom, then cover it tightly with aluminum foil.
5
Roast the brisket in the preheated oven for a prolonged period of time, or until it reaches a tender state, which should take around 6 hours.
6
Serve the hot and deliciously cooked brisket immediately, and indulge in its savory flavors!
