Sloppy Joe Pasta Bake
Ingredients
  • 1 (16 ounce) package penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cups frozen whole-kernel corn
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Colby-Jack cheese
  • cooking spray
Instructions
1
Gather all necessary ingredients before commencing the cooking process. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius), ensuring it reaches the optimal temperature for baking.
2
Bring a substantial quantity of salted water to a rolling boil in a large pot over extremely high heat. Submerge the desired pasta shape and cook according to the package instructions, aiming for an al dente texture. Drain the cooked pasta thoroughly.
3
Meanwhile, heat a generous amount of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Introduce the beef into the pot and cook, stirring constantly to break it down, until it reaches a safe internal temperature, approximately 5 minutes.
4
Incorporate the onion, bell peppers, paprika, garlic powder, and salt into the pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables have softened and become tender, about 4 minutes.
5
Combine the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar in the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Gradually reduce the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.
6
Remove the pot from the heat source and stir in the cooked pasta, corn, and 3/4 cup of the cheese. Combine these ingredients thoroughly.
7
Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent the beef and pasta mixture from sticking. Transfer the beef and pasta mixture into the prepared dish. Sprinkle an even layer of remaining 3/4 cup cheese over the top.
8
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake until heated through and the cheese is melted, approximately 20 minutes.
9
Serve the dish warm and enjoy your culinary creation!
