Ingredients
- 4 medium fresh peaches, or as needed
- 1/3 cup white sugar, or to taste
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
1
Cut each peach in half lengthwise and gently pry open the halves to reveal the pit, then carefully remove it. Peel the peaches and slice them into thin pieces. Cut these slices in half to yield approximately 2 cups of sliced peaches.
2
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil until it reaches a syrupy consistency, approximately 3 minutes. Stir in the sliced peaches to coat them evenly with the syrup. Allow the mixture to return to a gentle simmer, about 1 minute. Remove the saucepan from the heat immediately and pour the peach mixture into a bowl to cool, allowing it to chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
3
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooled peaches to a large serving bowl. Discard any excess syrup or reserve it for future use. Pour in heavy cream and gently stir to combine the mixture. Divide this peach-cream mixture among six serving glasses or bowls, cover each with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until the cream has fully absorbed the peach flavor and the mixture is completely chilled, at least 3 hours.
4
At this point, you can serve your chilled peaches and cream in individual glasses or bowls.
