Ingredients
- 1/2 cup elbow macaroni
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup 1% milk
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup frozen salad shrimp
- 2 tablespoons panko bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a hot temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Next, take some oil and rub it all over an oval-shaped baking dish to prevent food from sticking.
3
Fill a massive container with water and add a pinch of salt. Put it on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil.
4
Cook the elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally and checking its consistency every now and then. It should be cooked until it's still slightly firm in the middle, which usually takes around 8 minutes.
5
Drain the water from the pot.
6
Melt some butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix it with flour until you get a smooth, even paste.
7
Slowly pour in some milk while continuously stirring the mixture with a whisk. Add 1/2 cup of Cheddar cheese, some sour cream, and a dash of Cajun seasoning to the saucepan.
8
Mix in the cooked macaroni and frozen shrimp until everything is well combined.
9
Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish.
10
Sprinkle some panko crumbs and 2 tablespoons of Cheddar cheese over the top.
11
Place your dish in the preheated oven and let it cook until it's bubbly, golden brown, and done to perfection, taking around 20 minutes.
