Sfeeha Meat Pies
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground lamb
  • 1 white onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup pine nuts
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 2 (17.3 ounce) packages frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature, approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2
In a large skillet, heat the cooking surface to a medium-high temperature. Add ground beef and ground lamb along with an onion, pine nuts, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook until the meat becomes crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Remove any excess fat from the mixture.
3
Add a squeeze of lemon juice to the meat mixture and taste. Make any necessary adjustments to the seasoning.
4
Allow the meat mixture to cool down slightly.
5
Take a baking sheet and lightly grease it or line it with parchment paper.
6
Unroll the pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Using a round cookie cutter with a diameter of 3 inches, cut out multiple rounds from the dough. Brush the edges lightly with water and fill each round with a generous amount of the meat mixture, about 2 teaspoons. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges securely.
7
Place the filled pastry rounds on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough circles.
8
Brush each pie lightly with an egg wash before placing them in the oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
