- 1 pinch sea salt to taste

Begin by placing sugar into a robust, heat-conductive cooking vessel that is positioned over the middle to high heat setting, stirring constantly until the sugar starts to lose its crystalline structure and begins to dissolve. Maintain a steady pace, stirring continuously until the sugar has fully dissolved, darkened in color, and lost all its chunky texture, approximately taking 10 minutes.

At this point, bring the heat to a lower setting and cease stirring; continue cooking until the sugar develops a strong, pungent aroma and transforms into a deep amber hue, ranging from 3 to 8 minutes.

Once the cooking process is complete, remove the saucepan from the heat source and wait for 30 seconds before proceeding.

Next, introduce butter into the saucepan and whisk until it has fully incorporated and melted.

Slowly pour in 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon of heavy cream, exercising caution as the mixture can easily overflow.
