- 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Boil water in a large pot until it reaches a vigorous, bubbling state. Add the lutefisk and return to this boiling point.

Transfer the pot from the heat source, cover it with a lid, and allow the lutefisk to simmer for 8 minutes.

Verify that the internal temperature of the lutefisk has reached 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) using a thermometer designed for instant readings.\nCarefully lift the lutefisk from the water with a strainer or skimmer spoon.
