Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3/4 cup uncooked instant rice
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes with juice
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
- 6 large green bell peppers
- 1 (16 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
Instructions
1
Heat a large skillet or medium-sized stock pot over an intermediate heat setting, cooking the browned beef and sautéed onion until they reach a satisfactory color. Discard excess fat.
2
Next, combine cooked rice, water, crushed tomatoes, and stewed tomatoes in the skillet. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer until the rice is fully cooked.
3
In a separate process, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
4
Subsequently, cut the tops off bell peppers and carefully remove their seeds and white membranes. You may need to make a slight incision at the bottom of peppers to help them stand upright. Fill the prepared peppers with the previously cooked meat mixture.
5
Arrange the stuffed peppers in a casserole dish and bake them in the preheated oven until they are tender, approximately 20 minutes. Serve hot, topped with a generous helping of spaghetti sauce.
