Ingredients
- 3 3/4 cups cubed white bread
- 1 1/2 cups cubed whole wheat bread
- 1 pound ground turkey sausage
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3/4 cup chopped celery
- 2 1/2 teaspoons dried sage
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 Golden Delicious apple, cored and chopped
- 3/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
- 1 cooked turkey liver, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup turkey stock
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1
Collect the necessary items for preparation, including all required ingredients and equipment.
2
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (the temperature is equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius).
3
Arrange the white and whole wheat bread cubes in a single layer on a large baking sheet, making sure they don't overlap.
4
Bake the bread cubes in the preheated oven until they are evenly toasted, which should take around 5 to 7 minutes.
5
Transfer the toasted bread cubes to a large bowl, where they will be used as a base for the dish.
6
Cook sliced sausage and onions in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly to break up any lumps that form, until the sausage is evenly browned and crispy, taking around 6 to 8 minutes.
7
Add diced celery, dried sage, fresh rosemary, and thyme to the skillet, stirring until these ingredients blend together in harmony.
8
Pour the cooked sausage mixture over the bread cubes in the bowl, mixing it well to combine.
9
Add chopped apple, dried cranberries, chopped parsley, and cooked liver to the mixture, stirring gently to distribute these ingredients evenly.
10
Drizzle a small amount of turkey stock over the top of the mixture, followed by a drizzle of melted butter.
11
Allow the stuffing to cool completely before using it to fill your turkey.
