Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 (10 ounce) can beef broth
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Mix all the ingredients together - ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs beaten into a smooth consistency, onion soup mix, salt, and pepper - in a large bowl until you have a well-combined mixture. Add about half of the beef broth and continue to mix until everything is thoroughly moistened.
3
Divide the mixture into six equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. This will help you achieve uniform cooking results.
4
Heat a Dutch oven over medium heat and cook the patties in the hot pot until they are nicely browned on both sides, taking about 3 to 5 minutes per side.
5
Discard any excess grease from the pot and leave the patties in the pot to continue cooking.
6
Meanwhile, combine condensed soup, remaining beef broth, and dry mustard in a separate bowl until you have a smooth mixture. Pour this over the browned patties in the pot.
7
Bake the patties in your preheated oven until they are no longer pink in the center, taking about 45 minutes. To ensure they're cooked correctly, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of a patty and check that it reads at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
