Savory Ground Beef Teriyaki
Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 medium carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 large red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 large zucchini, diced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
1
Combine ground beef, sliced carrots, and diced bell pepper in a large skillet over a moderately high heat setting. Sear for approximately 4 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning
2
Add a pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper to the mixture, then introduce zucchini into the skillet. Continue cooking until the ground beef reaches your desired level of doneness, and the vegetables are tender but still crisp, about 5 additional minutes.
3
In a separate container, combine soy sauce, one-third cup plus two tablespoons of water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vinegar, cornstarch, onion powder, ground ginger, and garlic powder. Blend the ingredients together until they form a smooth sauce.
4
Once the meat and vegetables are cooked, whisk the sauce thoroughly to ensure it's well combined. Pour the sauce into the skillet and use a spatula to mix everything together, making sure it's evenly distributed on all sides of the pan.
5
Gradually increase the heat until the sauce begins to bubble and thicken, stirring occasionally. Once it reaches the desired consistency, reduce heat to a low setting. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
