Savory Grilled Tri-Tip
Ingredients
  • 4 pounds tri-tip roast
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and very thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1/3 cup black pepper
  • 1/3 cup garlic salt

Using a sharp blade, create small punctures in the surface of the roast; insert minced garlic into these openings.

Combine salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic seasoning in a small container; apply the mixture evenly to the tri-tip and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 1 day. Take the tri-tip out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes prior to grilling.

Heat up an outdoor grill to high temperatures and lightly brush the grate with oil.

Position the meat directly above the intense heat source to achieve a crispy crust and retain moisture, approximately 5 to 10 minutes per side.

Decrease the grill heat to medium and continue cooking, flipping occasionally, for an additional 25 to 30 minutes. A food thermometer inserted into the center should read 145 degrees F (63 degrees C) for medium-rare. Allow the meat to rest, covered with loose aluminum foil, for 5 minutes before slicing
