Savory Asian-Style Meatloaf with Hoisin Glaze
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 3 slices bread, broken up into small pieces
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
Instructions
1
Heat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Create the meatloaf: Combine beef, pork, bread crumbs, onion, celery, eggs, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and ginger in a bowl until everything is fully incorporated. Press the mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan shape.
3
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, allowing it to cook thoroughly.
4
Simultaneously prepare the glaze: Blend hoisin sauce and ketchup in a small bowl until well combined.
5
Take the meatloaf out of the oven and pour off any excess fat from the pan. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf and continue baking until it reaches a safe internal temperature, approximately 20 additional minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the meatloaf's internal temperature; it should be at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit or 70 degrees Celsius. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
