Sautéed Sausage, Peppers, and Onions
Ingredients
  • 6 (4 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 1/2 medium red onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup white wine, or more to taste

Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until it is nicely browned on all sides, taking around 5 to 7 minutes.

Remove the sausage from the skillet and cut it into slices.

Next, melt some butter in the same skillet. Add sliced onions and minced garlic to it and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add sliced bell peppers to the skillet and mix in some dried basil and oregano. Stir in 1/4 cup of wine, then continue to cook and stir until the peppers and onions are tender, which should take around 5 to 7 minutes.

Now, return the sausage slices back into the skillet. Lower the heat to a low setting and cover the skillet with a lid. Let it simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sausage is heated through. If needed, you can add more wine to the skillet during this time.
