Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, or more to taste
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, or more to taste
Instructions
1
Fill a large container with salted water and bring it to the surface, creating a rolling motion. Bring this mixture to its boiling point, which is when it reaches a vigorous bubbling state.
2
Cook spaghetti in the boiling water by gently stirring it occasionally, ensuring even cooking. Continue this process until the pasta reaches its desired level of doneness but still retains some firmness when bitten into, approximately 12 minutes.
3
Remove the spaghetti from the boiling water and discard the excess liquid.
4
In a large pan, heat sausage over medium-high heat until it reaches a browned and crumbly state, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the excess grease from the pan and discard it.
5
Add an onion, a bell pepper, and some margarine to the sausage mixture in the pan. Reduce the heat to a lower setting, cover it with a lid, and cook until the onion becomes soft, around 3 to 5 minutes.
6
Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning into the sausage mixture; bring this mixture to a boil.
7
Add some Parmesan cheese to the boiling mixture and pour it over the cooked spaghetti.
8
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of the spaghetti to complete the dish.
