Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package uncooked pasta shells
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 tablespoon finely minced onion
- 1 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1
Fill a large pot with water that has been lightly seasoned with salt and bring it to a furious boil over extremely high heat. Introduce the pasta into the pot and return it to a rolling boil. Cook, occasionally stirring the mixture, until it reaches the desired level of doneness but still retains a slight firmness in the center, approximately 13 minutes; drain the excess liquid.
2
In a separate large skillet, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion, orange pepper, and garlic; cook and stir until they become tender and fragrant, roughly 5 minutes. Introduce the Italian sausage into the skillet and cook and stir until it is browned and cooked through, approximately 8 minutes. Stir in the undrained tomatoes and heavy cream; reduce the heat to a lower medium setting and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
3
Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce; stir in the Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh parsley.
