Sausage Gravy Bake
Ingredients
  • 1 (16 ounce) package Jimmy DeanĀ® Premium Pork Regular Sausage
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder, or more to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons quick-mixing all-purpose flour, or more to taste
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon unsalted butter, or as needed
  • 1 (10 count) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
Instructions
1
Start by adding the sausage to a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring constantly with a spatula to break apart the meat until it's fully cooked, approximately 5-7 minutes. Add a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder, and chicken bouillon to the sausage for added flavor, then sprinkle a generous amount of pepper on top. Continue stirring until everything is well combined and the sausage is fully cooked, taking around 5-7 minutes.
2
Next, incorporate a generous amount of quick-mixing flour into the sausage mixture, stirring until it's fully incorporated. Then, slowly pour in milk and continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
3
Transfer the sausage mixture to a saucepan and bring it to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat once boiling has subsided and stir constantly until the gravy thickens, taking around 5-7 minutes. Take a moment to taste and adjust the seasoning as needed to suit your preferences.
4
While the gravy is cooking, prepare the biscuits by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking dish with butter and set it aside for later use.
5
Cut each individual biscuit into four equal pieces, then arrange half of the biscuit pieces in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Pour the cooked gravy over the biscuits, making sure to completely cover them. Place the remaining biscuit pieces on top of the gravy.
6
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes, or until they're fully cooked and golden brown. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them stand for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.
