Sausage Crescent Roll Casserole
Ingredients
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup low-fat milk
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius). Next, take a 9x13-inch baking pan and spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
2
Then, place a sheet of crescent roll dough at the bottom of the pan and press together any perforated seams to seal it.
3
After that, heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and cook a mixture of sausage, bell pepper, onions, and green onions in the pan until the sausage is nicely browned and crumbly. This should take around 5 to 7 minutes, depending on the heat level.
4
Remove any excess oil from the pan and then stir in a block of cream cheese until it's fully incorporated. Add some black pepper to the mixture and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cream cheese has melted.
5
Take the pan off the heat and let it cool down a bit before proceeding.
6
Now, spread the sausage-cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough at the bottom of the pan.
7
Next, sprinkle some Cheddar cheese over the top of the sausage mixture.
8
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until well combined.
9
Pour this egg-milk mixture over the cheese on top of the sausage.
10
Finally, bake the casserole in a preheated oven until the bottom is nicely browned, the cheese has melted and set, and the eggs have cooked through in the center. This should take around 30 minutes.
