Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 (16 ounce) package Regular Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
- 10 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups cubed bread
- 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 medium tomato, seeded and chopped
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup thin-sliced green onion
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2
Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
3
Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until it is fully cooked and no longer pink, taking around 8 to 10 minutes.
4
Take the sausage out of the heat.
5
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, and salt until well combined.
6
Mix everything thoroughly.
7
Divide the bread evenly into the prepared baking dish, covering the entire surface.
8
Sprinkle half of the sausage, cheese, tomato, mushroom, green onion, and black pepper over the bread layer.
9
Repeat this layer once more by sprinkling the remaining ingredients on top.
10
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, making sure to cover all layers.
11
Combine everything well.
12
Place the dish in the oven and bake uncovered until the eggs are fully set, taking around 55 to 60 minutes.
13
Cover the top with foil if it starts browning too quickly.
