Sausage and Tater Tot Breakfast Bake
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (12 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Tater TotsĀ®)
Instructions
1
Get your oven ready by preheating it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Next, lightly mist a 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
2
Heat up a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the sausage and onion in it until the sausage is nicely browned and crumbly, taking around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the cooked sausage mixture from heat and let it cool down slightly.
3
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, onion powder, salt, garlic powder, and pepper until well combined.
4
Now, spread the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the top layer, followed by half of the Cheddar cheese and all of the potato nuggets. Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent overcooking.
5
Bake the dish in your preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining Cheddar cheese over the top layer. Continue baking until the cheese is melted, approximately 20 minutes more. Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
