Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 potatoes, sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained
- 1 pound kielbasa sausage
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by melting butter in a large, covered skillet over medium heat. Introduce the onion and garlic into the pan; cook and stir until the onion becomes transparent, taking approximately 5 minutes. Next, add potatoes, water, carrots, bouillon cubes, sugar, and caraway seeds to the skillet; bring the mixture to a boil. Gradually decrease heat to a gentle simmer; cook until potatoes and carrots are tender, stirring occasionally, and this should take around 15 minutes.
2
Add a layer of sauerkraut on top of the cooked vegetables; position the sausages on top of the sauerkraut. Cover the skillet and cook until the sausages are heated through, taking roughly 15 minutes.
3
Mix sour cream and flour together in a separate bowl; whisk until smooth. Introduce the sour cream mixture into the sauerkraut and stir well; bring the combined mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to thicken. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
