Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced potatoes
- 1 (16 ounce) can salmon, drained (liquid reserved) and salmon flaked
- 1 cup milk, or as needed
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
Instructions
1
Begin by submerging potatoes into a substantial container filled with salted water, then initiate boiling. Gradually decrease the heat to a lower medium setting and maintain a gentle simmer until the potatoes are tender, approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat.
2
Next, combine the reserved liquid from cooked salmon with an adequate amount of milk to create a total volume of 2 cups in a measuring container or bowl.
3
Subsequently, preheat your oven to a temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Thoroughly grease a casserole dish with an abundance of cooking oil.
4
Subsequently, melt butter in a saucepan over a medium-low heat setting. Introduce flour into the melted butter and cook until it has fully dissolved, approximately 1 minute. Gradually add the milk mixture to the butter-flour mixture; cook, constantly stirring, until the sauce has thickened and achieved a smooth consistency, approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
5
Layer potatoes, salmon, and the sauce, alternating between 1 or 2 times, into the prepared casserole dish.
6
Combine mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard in a bowl using a whisking motion; pour over the casserole.
7
Finally, place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake until it is bubbling, approximately 30 minutes.
