Ingredients
- 4 hot dog buns, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3/4 cup milk
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
- 3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
- 5 graham cracker squares, crushed
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons miniature marshmallows, or more to taste
- 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips, or more to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by setting your oven to the correct temperature, which is 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Next, take a moment to grease a 2-quart square baking dish with some cooking spray.
2
Prepare the oven rack by placing a layer of hot dog bun pieces on it. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and let it cook until the buns are dry and crispy, taking around 7 to 8 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool completely.
3
In a separate bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, 3/4 cup of milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of nutmeg. Mix everything together until it's smooth and well combined.
4
Take the cooled bun pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish. Pour the milk mixture over the top of the buns, making sure they're fully coated.
5
Add 1 cup of marshmallows and 3/4 cup of chocolate chips on top of the buns. Let them sit for about 5 minutes, allowing the marshmallows to slightly soak into the buns.
6
Sprinkle some graham cracker crumbs over the top of the marshmallows and chocolate chips.
7
Place the baking dish back in the preheated oven and let it cook until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, taking around 35 minutes.
8
In a separate saucepan, whisk together 2 tablespoons of milk, 2 tablespoons of marshmallows, and 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips over medium heat. Let them melt and incorporate together until smooth.
9
Pour the melted marshmallow and chocolate mixture over the bread pudding. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
