Ingredients
- 4 jalapeno chile peppers
- 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
- 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2
Arrange the jalapeno chile peppers on a standard-sized baking sheet and place it in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until they are nicely caramelized.
3
Remove the jalapeno chile peppers from the oven and carefully cut off their stems.
4
In a blender or food processor, combine the jalapeno chile peppers, garlic, onion, white sugar, salt, ground cumin and diced tomatoes with green chile peppers. Use the pulse setting to chop these ingredients for a few seconds, leaving some texture intact.
5
Mix in the whole peeled tomatoes and continue to use the pulse setting to achieve your desired consistency.
6
Transfer the blended mixture to a medium-sized bowl and cover it with a lid. Refrigerate until you're ready to serve.
