Rhode Island Pizza Strips
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds prepared pizza dough
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup minced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons grated Romano cheese
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Prepare two baking surfaces by either greasing them with a non-stick spray or lining them with parchment paper for an easy cleanup.
3
Divide the pizza dough into two equal portions and shape each half into a rectangular form on one of the prepared baking surfaces.
4
Repeat this process with the remaining dough portion to create two identical crusts.
5
Combine crushed tomatoes, pepperoni, 1/4 cup of olive oil, Romano cheese, sugar, salt, garlic, oregano, and black pepper in a bowl; stir until the sugar and salt have fully dissolved.
6
Spread half of the sauce mixture evenly over each crust, making sure to cover it all the way to the edges.
7
Drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over each pizza for an added flavor and texture.
8
Place the pizzas in the preheated oven and bake until the crusts are crispy on the bottom and the sauce appears dry at the edges but still moist in the middle, taking around 15 to 20 minutes.
9
Allow the pizzas to cool completely on wire racks at room temperature, approximately 20 minutes.
10
Once cooled, cut each pizza into eight equal strips measuring 9x3 inches.
