- 4 large firm pears - peeled, cored, and quartered
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- peel of 1 orange
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine

"Begin by placing the pears in a cooking vessel, such as a saucepan. Next, add granulated sugar and grate the orange peel to release its oils before adding it to the saucepan along with a cinnamon stick. Then, pour in red wine to completely submerge the pears.

Once the mixture starts boiling, decrease the heat and let it simmer at a low temperature for approximately 2.5 hours, or until the pears become tender and have absorbed the flavors of the liquid.

Using a spoon with holes, carefully transfer the cooked pears to a serving dish. You can serve them warm or chilled."
