  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste

Combine the liquid ingredients, including water, in a large container with a capacity for slow cooking. Add kidney beans, sliced sausage, chopped onion, diced green bell pepper, and sliced celery to the container. Mince garlic and add it to the mixture. Introduce a bay leaf into the blend, stirring everything together. Place this mixture in the bowl of your slow cooker and set it to a low heat setting. Allow the ingredients to simmer for at least 8 hours. Remove the bay leaf and discard it once cooking is complete. Finally, add salt and ground black pepper to taste, allowing each person to customize their portion according to individual preference.
