- 1 (3 pound) spaghetti squash
- 1 cup water, or as needed

Carefully remove the stem end from the spaghetti squash, taking care not to damage the delicate flesh. Make a few small incisions in the skin of the squash, spaced evenly apart to guide your cutting.

Carefully cut along these incisions until you have successfully halved the squash. Remove any seeds or stringy pulp from the center of the squash.

Place the halved squash in a 9x13-inch microwave-safe dish, with the cut side facing downwards. Fill the dish with water until it reaches a depth of at least 1/2 inch.

Microwave on High for the recommended time, or until the skin is soft and can be easily pierced with a fork, typically between 12 to 15 minutes. If the dish is too large for the turntable to rotate, consider turning off the turntable and rotating the dish halfway through cooking time.
